tC's have an optional cabin air filter? MaxPower55 | 5/16/2008 11:15:05 PM | Quote Reply Edit |

While doing a regular service on my tC last week, I decided to check the cabin air filter. The car has a little over 18,000 miles and is 3 years old, so I figured it was due. For those that don't know, a cabin air filter filters things like pollen in the air coming into the cabin of the car through your HVAC system. So I drop the glove box and pull out the tray for the filter, only to see... NO FILTER THERE?! Really? No one has Ever done any work on this car other than me, so there should be no reason why it's missing. I looked it up on our database at work and there was no mention at all of the Scion tC having the filter (not all cars have a cabin air filter) but there is a tray and place to put the filter in. So why no filter? I have no idea. I called NAPA and got one for about $20, though. They make one, although it says it fits the Camry and Rav4 with no mention of the tC. It's a cabin air filter #4900 from NAPA. If anyone is interested in installing one, I can post pics. It's an extremely easy install that anyone could do in less than 5 minutes.
Safe driving..

Same issue on the xB. They make the tray, but you have to buy the filter as an after market item. You can make your own by going to a local hardware store and buying your own filter. Cut the filter to the size that you need and use duct tape on all sides so that it is sealed properly. |
